Supplier to pipeline construction, offshore & marine engineering
As a supplier to pipeline construction we manufacture flanges, pipe segments and fittings to your drawing — components that in service have to carry internal pressure, salt water corrosion and dynamic loads at the same time. They are therefore designed for tightness, dimensional accuracy and documented weld seam quality: load-bearing seams are produced to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3 and EN ISO 3834-2, SAW or TIG welded depending on material and seam requirement.
The process chain stays under one roof in Lorch: saw cutting and 3D plasma cutting on the pipe, rolling pipe courses from heavy plate, welding, machining flanges and sealing faces on the vertical lathe as well as shot blasting and coating to EN ISO 12944. That shortens lead times, avoids interfaces between several suppliers and secures seamless material traceability to EN 10204.
For offshore and marine engineering, welded special containers and subsea assembly vessels are added — from the load-bearing frame structure to the coated unit ready for transport. We work exclusively as a contract manufacturer to drawing: you are responsible for the design, we supply documented manufacturing.
Typical components for pipeline, offshore & marine engineering
Six typical component families from our production — every card leads to the manufacturing capability behind it:

Pipe segments & pipeline components
Welded pipe segments with flanges and branches to drawing — manufactured dimensionally accurate and tested with documentation.

Flanges, rings & weld ends
Solid flanges and rings, vertically turned with flat sealing faces and accurately fitting connection dimensions.

3D pipe cuts & penetrations
Saddle cuts, cutouts and weld preparation on thick-walled steel pipes by 3D plasma.

Rolled pipe courses & large-diameter pipes
Pipe courses and cylindrical shells from heavy plate, rolled by three-point bending and SAW-welded on the longitudinal seam.

Offshore & special containers
Special containers for transport and use at sea — coated to EN ISO 12944 up to corrosivity category C5-M.

Subsea & assembly vessels
Welded vessels and assembly units in stainless steel and duplex for marine use.

Materials for marine environments — from our own stock
For pipeline, offshore and marine engineering we process structural steel S235/S355, fine-grain structural steel up to S1100, stainless steel 1.4301–1.4571, duplex 1.4462 and pressure vessel steel P265GH/P355GH — over 40 material grades in stock in total. Every heat comes with a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204; thick-walled large-diameter pipes and round bar are held in our own stock for saw cutting.
The marking is retained during cutting: as a company authorised by GSI SLV München we re-stamp material markings to EN 10204 — traceability from the raw material to the finished assembly stays seamless. Against salt water and weathering we blast to Sa 2.5 and coat to suit the corrosivity category of the operating environment.
Materials at a glance
Certified for load-bearing and pressure-bearing components
Load-bearing steel components for pipeline and offshore are manufactured to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3 — the highest execution class certified in practice — with comprehensive welding quality requirements to EN ISO 3834-2. For pressure-bearing components in pressure vessel steel, approval to the AD 2000 HP 0 code of practice is added.
Non-destructive testing in-house
Weld seams on pipe segments, assemblies and vessels are tested with documentation according to the drawing and specification:
- Visual, dye penetrant and magnetic particle testing (VT/PT/MT) by our own inspectors with Level 2 to DIN EN ISO 9712 — directly in production, with no waiting for external inspection services.
- Ultrasonic testing (UT) is carried out at our plant on a project basis by certified inspection personnel of our cooperation partner. Supplementary destructive tests such as tensile tests are arranged through external laboratories.
The scope of testing and documentation follows your specification — from an inspection record per seam to complete component documentation with 3.1 mill certificates.

Frequently asked questions — pipeline, offshore & marine engineering
Does Bock manufacture pipe segments and flanges to drawing?
Yes. As a contract manufacturer we produce flanges, pipe segments and fittings exclusively to your drawing — in structural steel, stainless steel and duplex, welded to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3 and EN ISO 3834-2. Flanges and rings are machined on the vertical lathe up to Ø 4,800 mm.
Which components does Bock supply for pipeline construction and offshore engineering?
Typical items are pipe segments, flanges and rings, 3D pipe cuts, rolled pipe courses, offshore and special containers as well as subsea assembly vessels. Further steel components for marine applications are manufactured to drawing on request.
Are the components protected against corrosion for offshore use?
Yes. We blast to Sa 2.5 and coat to EN ISO 12944 to suit the corrosivity category of the operating environment — up to C5-M for marine atmospheres. The blasting and paint booths are in our own plant, so corrosion protection and manufacturing come from a single source.
How are pipe cuts and penetrations produced on thick-walled pipes?
We produce saddle cuts, cutouts and weld preparations directly on the pipe by 3D plasma cutting; thick-walled pipes are additionally cut by oxy-fuel pipe cutting. Both processes deliver accurately fitting contours for the welding process that follows.
How is material traceability documented?
Every heat comes with a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204. During cutting we transfer the material marking by re-stamping — authorised by GSI SLV München. Weld seams are tested by VT/PT/MT by our own Level 2 inspectors to DIN EN ISO 9712; ultrasonic testing (UT) is carried out at our plant by our cooperation partner. The results are recorded in the inspection report.
Up to what size do you manufacture — and where do you deliver?
We manufacture assemblies up to 50 t part weight and 26 m component length; handling is by the crane system with 25 t. Manufacturing takes place in Lorch near Stuttgart — we supply customers throughout Germany and the DACH region, with loading of heavy components including heavy haulage ex works.
