Supplier for machinery and special machine building

As a special machine building supplier we manufacture components that have to carry loads permanently in service and fit precisely: gearbox housings keep bearing seats within tolerance even under load, ring gears and flywheels rotate for years, machine tables need flat, torsionally rigid clamping surfaces. For this we combine certified welding with our own CNC large-part machining — where required, assemblies are vibration stress-relieved after welding and only then machined to final size.

From saw cutting and flame cutting through welding to EN ISO 3834-2 to gantry milling, boring mill and vertical turning, everything is produced on 14,000 m² under one roof in Lorch, east of Stuttgart. That shortens lead times, avoids interfaces between several suppliers and secures seamless material traceability to EN 10204.

We manufacture from the single part to the small series — as a ready-to-install single component or as a complete assembly, pre-assembled and painted on request. More than 100 specialists and a machine park with over 20 machines have been available for this since 1963.

Materials & manufacturing depth for special machine building

Over 40 material grades are held in our own stock: structural steels such as S355, fine-grain structural steels up to S1100, wear-resistant grades and stainless steels. That shortens procurement on urgent projects — and every heat stays traceable through the 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204.

Our manufacturing depth includes flame cutting up to 200 mm on 20 × 3.5 m, press brake bending up to 1,000 t on hydraulic press brakes, plate rolling as well as shot blasting and industrial painting to EN ISO 12944 — the assembly leaves the plant coated and ready for assembly.

Quality, testing & documentation

Load-bearing welded structures are manufactured to DIN EN 1090-2 up to EXC3 — the highest execution class certified in practice — with welding quality to EN ISO 3834-2. Every heat stays traceable through the 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204; as a company authorised by GSI SLV München we re-stamp materials on request.

Non-destructive testing in-house

Testing takes place before the assembly goes to your line:

  • VT, PT and MT by our own inspectors to DIN EN ISO 9712 (Level 2) — directly in the plant, with no external scheduling chains.
  • Ultrasonic testing (UT) is carried out at our plant on a project basis by certified inspection personnel of our cooperation partner. Destructive tests such as tensile tests are coordinated through accredited partner laboratories.

Inspection scope to drawing, specification or execution class — documented in the inspection report accompanying the assembly.

Frequently asked questions — special machine building

Does Bock manufacture complete assemblies and gearbox housings to drawing?

Yes. We manufacture special machine assemblies, gearbox housings, machine tables and vibration frames complete to your drawing — welded to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3, vibration stress-relieved, CNC-machined and, on request, painted and pre-assembled, from the single part to the small series.

Up to what diameter can ring gears and flywheels be turned?

On the vertical lathe we turn rotationally symmetric components such as ring gears, flywheels and slewing rings up to Ø 4,800 mm and 2,400 mm turning height — gear cutting is handled by a partner on request.

Up to what size and weight are assemblies manufactured?

Up to 50 t part weight and 26 m component length. The crane system with 2×25 t handles the parts in production; loading heavy assemblies ex works — including by abnormal-load transport — is routine here.

Which materials are available for special machine components?

Over 40 grades from stock: structural steels such as S355, fine-grain structural steels up to S1100, wear-resistant grades and stainless steels — every heat with a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204.

Why is a supplier with welding and machining under one roof worthwhile?

Because the tolerance chain stays in one hand: the assembly is welded, vibration stress-relieved and then machined to final size in the same plant. That avoids interface risks between welding shop and machinist, shortens lead times and delivers continuous documentation from a single source.

Does Bock as a special machine building supplier also serve customers outside the Stuttgart region?

Yes. From the Lorch site east of Stuttgart we supply machinery and plant builders throughout Germany as well as in Austria and Switzerland — enquiries come by drawing, delivery is ex works.
