Your supplier for machine tool and press manufacturing

As a supplier to the machine tool industry we manufacture what carries your machine: machine frames, welded frames, milling frames, press tables and machine tables to your drawing. These base structures absorb high static and dynamic forces over years — cutting forces, press forces, accelerations — and must lose neither flatness nor dimensional accuracy in the process.

Our manufacturing sequence is therefore designed for a low-stress structure: we weld torsionally rigid structures from S235, S355 and fine-grain structural steel, reduce residual stresses by vibration stress relief, correct distortion by flame straightening — and only then finish-machine the frames. Mating faces, guideway seats and hole patterns thus stay permanently within tolerance.

From the flame-cut blank through welding to EN ISO 3834-2 to CNC large-part machining and industrial painting, everything is produced under one roof in Lorch. That shortens lead times, avoids transport between trades and secures seamless material traceability to EN 10204.

Materials & manufacturing depth for mechanical engineering

We build frames and structures from structural steel S235 and S355 as well as high-strength fine-grain structural steel up to S1100 — depending on the stiffness, fatigue strength and weight target your design requires. For surfaces exposed to wear, wear-resistant steel and stainless steel are also available; in total we process over 40 material grades, many of them from stock.

Every heat stays traceable: material marking throughout the entire production run and a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204 for every load-bearing component. Where required we re-stamp certificates — authorised by GSI SLV München.

Low-stress structure — vibration stress relief instead of furnace annealing

Every weld introduces residual stresses into a frame. If they are not reduced, they keep working after machining — mating faces distort, hole patterns shift, the machine loses precision. We therefore relieve welded frames before finish machining by vibration stress relief (VSR) and straighten them by flame straightening where required.

The process needs no annealing furnace and is therefore also suitable for large components that fit into no furnace — up to 50 t part weight, directly in our production in Lorch. Only once the structure has settled do the frames move on to the gantry mills.

Frame machining on the gantry milling centres

For machine tool and press manufacturing it is the finish machining that decides: on our Zayer gantry milling centres, flatness, parallelism and hole pattern position are produced in few setups.

Certified for load-bearing structures in mechanical engineering

Machine frames and press tables are highly loaded welded structures. We manufacture to DIN EN 1090-2 in execution class EXC3 — the highest class certified in practice — and weld to EN ISO 3834-2 with comprehensive quality requirements. Every production step is documented, every heat traceable to EN 10204.

Non-destructive testing in-house

Highly stressed welds on frames and structures are tested by us — with no waiting for external inspection services.

  • Visual testing (VT), dye penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle testing (MT) by our own inspectors with Level 2 to DIN EN ISO 9712.
  • Ultrasonic testing (UT) is carried out at our plant on a project basis by certified inspection personnel of our cooperation partner. Destructive tests such as tensile tests and notched-bar impact tests are carried out through a test laboratory where required — depending on the requirement and acceptance specification.

Inspection scope and documentation follow your specification — from the weld log to complete component documentation.

Frequently asked questions — machine tool & press manufacturing

Does Bock manufacture welded machine frames and press tables to drawing?

Yes. We manufacture machine frames, welded and milling frames, press tables, machine tables and uprights exclusively to your drawing — welded to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3, vibration stress-relieved and finish-machined on our gantry mills up to 26 m. We do not make products of our own; your design remains yours.

How does Bock ensure the dimensional accuracy of large machine frames?

Through low-stress manufacturing in the right order: after welding we reduce residual stresses by vibration stress relief and straighten the frames by flame straightening where required — only then are mating faces and hole patterns finish-machined. The geometry therefore stays stable even under continuous load.

Why vibration stress relief instead of furnace annealing?

Vibration stress relief reduces welding residual stresses without an annealing furnace. The process can therefore also be used for large frames that fit into no furnace — up to 50 t part weight, directly in our production in Lorch. What counts is the result: a settled structure that does not keep working after machining.

Which materials does Bock process for frames and structures?

Structural steel S235 and S355, high-strength fine-grain structural steel up to S1100 as well as wear-resistant and stainless steel for areas exposed to wear — over 40 material grades in total, documented with a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204.

Up to what size and weight does Bock manufacture machine frames?

Up to 50 t part weight and 26 m component length. Handling is done by our 25 t crane system; heavy frames are loaded for abnormal-load transport directly ex works Lorch.

Where is Bock located — and does Bock as a machine tool industry supplier also deliver beyond the region?

Our plant is in Lorch in the Stuttgart region, at the heart of southern German mechanical engineering. We supply machine tool and press manufacturers throughout Germany as well as in Austria and Switzerland.
