Structural Steel Fitting in Contract Manufacturing

Structural steel fitting forms the craft foundation for the production of mechanical assemblies and steel structures. At Bock Maschinenbau this covers cutting, drilling, thread tapping, deburring and the precise fitting of steel parts to drawing.

Our construction mechanics and fitters work directly with machining, welding and steel fabrication – all trades under one roof. This allows short routes and efficient contract manufacturing even for small quantities and single parts from batch size 1.

Materials: structural steel S235 to S355, fine-grain structural steel, Hardox, stainless steel 1.4301/1.4571 and special alloys. Components from a few kilograms up to 50 tonnes are safely handled and positioned with the 2×25 t overhead travelling crane.

Jig Building for Special Purpose Machinery and Steel Fabrication

Jig building covers the design and manufacture of clamping, welding and assembly aids for dimensionally accurate work. Welding jigs ensure the reproducibility of component positions and reduce reject rates in series production.

Bock manufactures welding jigs, assembly gauges, grippers and special fixtures to customer specification. Re-clamping fixtures for the handling of heavy steel parts as well as inspection gauges for quality assurance are also part of the contract manufacturing scope.

Structural steel fitting and jig building at Bock are integrated directly into the manufacturing chain: cutting, flame cutting, welding, blasting and painting from a single source. On-time delivery – single parts and small series to customer requirements.

Materials for Steel Fitting

Steel fitting and assembly at Bock cover all common structural and special steels:

  • Structural steel S235, S355 – standard construction steel
  • Fine-grain structural steel up to S1100 – high-strength and weldable
  • Hardox 400 / 500 – wear-resistant steel for heavily stressed assemblies
  • Stainless steel 1.4301, 1.4571 – corrosion-resistant
  • Special steels to drawing and customer specification

Material certificates and full material traceability are provided on request or in line with project requirements.

Typical Applications

Steel fitting and jig building at Bock are used for:

  • Assembly of crane jibs, frames and load-bearing steel structures
  • Tacking and welding jigs for long girders and profiles
  • Assembly of pipe systems and structural connections
  • Precise joining and positioning of heavy assemblies prior to final welding
  • Repair and conversion work on existing steel structures

Joined components pass directly into certified MAG, TIG and submerged-arc welding within the same facility.
