Lock gates, weir flaps and dolphins carry high hydrostatic and dynamic loads and have to stay tight, dimensionally accurate and corrosion-resistant for decades. As a certified welding contractor we build every assembly for load capacity, tightness and fatigue strength.

The manufacturing depth for this is entirely in Lorch in the Stuttgart region. From flame cutting on the 20 × 3.5 m table up to 200 mm material thickness through SAW and MAG welding to CNC large-part machining, blasting and coating, everything is produced under one roof. That shortens lead times, avoids transports between trades and secures complete material traceability to EN 10204.

Materials for hydraulic steel structures

For load-bearing structures in water engineering we process structural steel S235/S355 and fine-grain structural steel up to S1100 — for weight-optimised gates and flaps with a high yield strength. Where increased corrosion resistance is required, we manufacture from stainless steel 1.4301 to 1.4571 and duplex 1.4462. Over 40 material grades are available in total, common qualities from stock.

Every batch is completely marked and documented with a 3.1 mill certificate to EN 10204. For the re-stamping of remnant material we are authorised by GSI SLV München — traceability stays closed from goods receipt to the finished assembly.

Corrosion protection to EN ISO 12944 — blasting and coating in-house

Components in hydraulic steel structures are permanently exposed to water, moisture and alternating loads — corrosion protection determines their service life. We blast gates, flaps and dolphins in the 25 × 7 × 6 m shot blasting plant to cleanliness grade Sa 2.5 and then coat them to EN ISO 12944 — for high corrosivity categories and long protection durability.

Because welding, machining, blasting and coating take place in the same works, there are no intermediate transports and no coatings damaged by outside handling. You receive the assembly ready to install with a documented coating system.

Quality & inspection in hydraulic steel structures

Lock gates and weir closures are load-bearing welded structures under permanent alternating load — we manufacture them to DIN EN 1090-2 EXC3, the highest execution class certified in practice, and with EN ISO 3834-2 we meet the comprehensive quality requirements for welding. Material documentation to EN 10204 is part of the standard.

Non-destructive testing in-house

Welds in water engineering must be tight and fatigue-resistant — we inspect them where they are made:

  • Visual testing (VT), dye penetrant testing (PT) and magnetic particle testing (MT) are carried out by our own inspectors with Level 2 to DIN EN ISO 9712 directly in production.
  • Ultrasonic testing (UT) is carried out at our plant on a project basis by certified inspection personnel of our cooperation partner. Destructive tests such as tensile tests are commissioned from accredited partner laboratories.

Inspection scope and documentation follow your specification or standard — with inspection reports for every assembly.
