Setting up and operating the CNC milling and boring centres (large and special-part machining)

Dimensional and quality inspection, set-up and tool management
No two parts are the same: machine beds and box girders, large rings, housings and frames for special-purpose machinery — components up to 26 m long and 50 t in weight, for which a standard machine is simply too small. You clamp the part yourself, set it up, write and adjust the program on the Heidenhain control and run the cut: on the two Zayer Thera W with swivelling universal milling head, on the Soraluce travelling-column centre above the 2.5 m rotary table and on the three horizontal boring mills, where you drill, line-bore, face and cut threads. Mostly batch size 1 or small series: every part is calculated once, clamped once and milled once. Vertical turning up to Ø 4,800 mm is a separate role with us — this one is about milling, drilling and boring.

Your Profile
Completed training as a cutting machine operator (milling) or industrial mechanic
Experience on CNC milling centres or the horizontal boring mill, ideally in large-part machining
Knowledge of Heidenhain controls (TNC 530/430/426)
Confident reading of technical drawings including form and position tolerances
Experience in slinging and clamping heavy components (crane licence an advantage)
Precise and independent way of working
Willingness to work a two-shift system

Milling up to 26 m travel
You mill large components on two Zayer Thera W (26 m and 16 m travel, 30° swivel head accurate to 0.001°) and the Soraluce FR 20,000 — up to 50 t to size in a single setup.
Three boring mills, Ø 130 mm spindle
On three identical TOS-Varnsdorf WHN 13 CNC (Ø 130 mm spindle) you bore, mill and line-bore — the 360° rotary table lets you machine several faces without re-clamping.
Travelling column with 20 m of travel
On the Soraluce FR 20.000 you cover 20 m of travel in length and 4 m in width and machine on the 2.5 m rotary table even what is too bulky for a fixed table.
Individual parts, not an assembly line
You take charge of heavy individual parts and small batches from batch 1 up to 50 t in full — no series cycle, but demanding one-offs with full dimensional responsibility.

Good German makes everyday work on the shop floor easier: drawings, welding plans and team coordination are all in German. It does not have to be perfect. At Bock, colleagues from many nations work side by side, some with little German — what counts is the craft. If in doubt, a short phone call is best: a conversation clears this up faster than a form.
Can I do a trial workday?
Yes. Trial work is common with us and has proven its worth: a day on the shop floor shows both sides more than a long conversation — what the work really looks like and how it fits in the team. The date is arranged individually once the application has arrived. The day serves mutual acquaintance and is not paid.
What happens after I apply?
Every application is reviewed personally here. Usually a short phone call follows, then a personal interview and, where it fits, a trial workday. Because we go through the documents thoroughly, a reply can sometimes take a little while; nothing gets lost in the process. For questions in between, a call to the extension above helps.
Will my foreign qualification be recognised?
That cannot be answered in general terms. The recognition of foreign qualifications is not decided by us but by the competent authorities, and it is always assessed case by case. For an application this is not an exclusion criterion: what counts is what someone can do and wants to do — existing certificates, work experience, the trial workday and honest interest in the job.
Which documents do I need?
A cover letter is not required. A CV and references do belong with it, though — without them an application cannot be assessed. It also helps to add a short introduction in the message field: a few sentences about experience and motivation often say more than a certificate.
Is there shift work?
Yes. Machining runs a two-shift operation: early and late shift alternate weekly. There is no night shift. Weekend work only happens by arrangement, depending on the order situation.
