# CNC Heavy Machining of 40+ Material Grades up to 26 m – Contract Manufacturing Southern Germany

CNC heavy machining for heavy parts up to 50 t – portal milling, floor-type milling, horizontal boring mills and vertical lathe turning under one roof, in steel, Hardox and stainless as contract manufacturing in Lorch.
Portal milling and floor-type milling for exceptionally long and large-format components.
Three CNC horizontal boring mills with rotary table – boring, line boring and milling in a single setup.
Turning table for rotationally symmetric heavy parts up to 50 t.
2×25 t crane system and hall infrastructure for all component sizes.
Structural steel, fine-grain structural steel to S1100, Hardox 400/500 and stainless steel 1.4301/1.4571.
Quality management with documented material traceability.

## CNC Heavy Machining – all processes under one roof

Heavy machining at Bock means milling, boring, line boring and turning of components that are too large, too long or too heavy for standard machines – up to 26,000 mm in length and 50 t. Portal milling, floor-type milling, horizontal boring mills and vertical lathe turning interlock within the same facility, so complex workpieces are machined completely without external logistics.
Which machine will process your component we determine based on your specification – this assignment is part of our manufacturing expertise and takes the selection off your hands entirely. For every task the right machine is available; this reduces setup and re-clamping operations and secures tight positional tolerances even over large distances.
Programming is done from CAD data or drawing dimensions – single parts, prototypes and small batches alike, as contract manufacturing with no minimum quantities. The 2×25 t crane runway secures the setup and positioning of all large parts; dimensional reports, first-article inspection and material certificates are provided per project in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001:2015.
After machining, large parts are handed over directly for welding, shot blasting and painting – complete single-source manufacturing, without external logistics between the machining steps.

## Large-part machining: milling, drilling, turning

### Components up to 50 t

Travels up to 26,000 mm in length – large parts that are too big, too long or too heavy for standard machines, in just a few set-ups.

### All processes under one roof

Gantry milling, travelling-column milling, horizontal boring mills and vertical turning interlock within the same operation – without external logistics between the steps.

### Contract manufacturing to DIN EN ISO 9001

Single parts, prototypes and small batches with no minimum quantities – with dimensional report, first-article inspection and material certificate.

## The machines of heavy machining

Four machine groups for the machining of large parts – each with its own strength profile:

### Portal milling – Zayer Thera W

Two portal milling machines with 30° swivel milling head and portal supported on both sides – maximum rigidity for long, large-format components.

### Floor-type milling centre – Soraluce FR 20,000

Floor-type machine with swivel milling head and rotary table – work envelope open at the top for bulky, tall heavy parts.

### CNC horizontal boring mill – TOS-Varnsdorf WHN 13

Three identical boring mills with Ø 130 mm boring spindle and rotary table – boring, line boring, milling and thread cutting in a single setup.

### Vertical lathe turning – Feichter

Vertical turning of rotationally symmetric heavy parts – large flanges, slewing rings, rings and bushings to drawing.

## Special tooling – a tool arsenal built 63 years

Large machines alone do not finish a part – what matters is the tool in the spindle. In 63 years of contract manufacturing, Bock has built up an exceptionally deep stock of tools and special tooling. This arsenal, grown over decades, is a genuine competitive advantage: it makes us independent of lengthy special-tool procurement and enables machining operations that many contract manufacturers have to outsource or turn down.
- Long boring and back-boring bars for deep bores and line-bored bearing seats
- Angle milling heads for hard-to-reach faces and multi-side machining
- Special milling cutters and large face mills for unusual contours and high material removal
- Special drills, taps and thread-cutting tools up to large dimensions
- In-house holders, clamping and workholding fixtures for bulky and heavy workpieces
- Calibrated measuring and inspection equipment for dimensional control of large geometries
This is what makes Bock so versatile – whether an unusual geometry, a deep bore or a hard-to-reach face: in most cases the right tool is already in-house. That shortens setup and procurement times and widens the range of parts we can manufacture economically.

## Materials for CNC Heavy Machining

Bock uses predominantly European quality steels:
- Structural steel S235, S355 – Standard structural steel
- Fine-grained structural steel up to S1100 – high-strength, weldable
- Hardox 400 / 500 – wear-resistant steel for high-stress components
- Stainless steel 1.4301, 1.4571 – corrosion-resistant
- Special steels to drawing and customer specification
Material certificates and test reports are provided per project.

## Typical Applications

CNC heavy machining at Bock is used for:
- Base plates, machine beds and structural beams
- Flanges, rings and bushings for heavy-duty applications
- Beams and cross members for crane and vehicle systems
- Complex components for plant and special machinery construction
- Post-machined welded structures and welded assemblies
Manufactured components can be welded, blasted and painted in the same facility – complete single-source manufacturing without external logistics between the machining steps. The 2×25 t crane system secures handling across all production areas. Requirements from crane construction, vehicle construction and plant engineering are met through DIN EN ISO 9001:2015, dimensional reports and material certificates – single parts, prototypes and small batches with no minimum quantities.
